GUARDS, always ready, Ready to Strike!

I think one of the best things about blogs are its archives! It was really fun and interesting reading about my thoughts, feelings and experiences at various points in my life. It somehow brings you back to how you were months ago, awaiting for answers to questions, approvals to plans and of course results to our actions. The archives also show how my opinion and sentiments about certain individuals and issues changed over time. A great way to take a walk down memory lane!

The past 2 weeks have been crazy. Crazy, not in the usual fun way that I always relate it to but rather its literal meaning. Being in the 2NTM force for the nation is bad enough. All the preparations, inspections, standing orders shit, planning room transformations and the hassle of going for turnouts at weird unpredictable timings are enough to make one go bonkers! I just do not understand how people in the ADF and Commandos can do it all at a more frequent rate. 2 weeks of no civilian life, confined within the concertina wires that surrounds the company line and worst of all – facing my men, colleagues and superiors every second of the day just brings me a step closer to insanity. Luckily it is all over now! yay :) but, just as I thought things were about to get better, the very day that we hand over our duties, we were making our way to lim chu kang training area where we had a section proficiency field camp. Wth! Night navigation was one of component trainings. I had to lead my 5 men under my charge from the poyang range in the south of lim chu kang all the way to one of the training sheds near butterfly knoll in the north of the training area, bypassing the Chinese and Muslim cemetery. Firstly, I was already quite stressed out because I have 5 men with me who happens to just follow me bah-loong-loong (a term in the army that meant aimlessly) without aiding me in any way except complaining and asking me demoralizing questions like: Sgt, where are you taking us to? How much more do we have to walk? Are we in the right direction? Here got so many mosquitoes! Hurry bring us to the end point sgt! So, yeah. It was tough and the fact that I had to by pass the cemetery made it freakier. Hahaha. But it was a great experience! Not every day you get to do such dreaded things, nonetheless you would only want to do it once and never again. I rather mug on topics relating to probability at pioneer mall!

More shit are gonna flow in for me come the day SPIDERMAN 3 premiers in Singapore because I will be promoted to 2SG! Hahaha. There are a lot of mixed feelings with regards to this promotion. Of course, promotions are great but it is the responsibilities that could kill you. More work will come, expectations to perform will be higher and punishments given will be graver! Only time will tell how I will live up to the rank. It is all about, giving your best and expecting nothing in return right? Just persevere :)
